Convert your dog's age using the science-backed epigenetic formula, adjusted for breed size.
In 2019, UC San Diego researchers discovered that the accurate conversion formula is human age = 16 × ln(dog age) + 31. Dogs age very rapidly in year one then slow considerably. Breed size adds an offset based on body mass.
human_age = 16 × ln(dog_age) + 31. Offsets: Small −2 to −5 yrs. Large +2 to +5. Giant +5 to +12.
| Dog Age | Small | Medium | Large | Giant |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 yr | 15 | 15 | 15 | 15 |
| 2 yrs | 24 | 26 | 27 | 29 |
| 5 yrs | 36 | 40 | 43 | 50 |
| 7 yrs | 44 | 50 | 55 | 63 |
| 10 yrs | 56 | 62 | 68 | 79 |
